Opening soon

Rob and the team up the road at The Royal Oak, Yattendon are thrilled to be the new landlords of the Pot Kiln.

We will be closed until late April as we undergo some dramatic and impressive refurbishment works, inside and out.

Inspired by studies and travels in Spain and the Basque country, we hope to create a Basque pub – very rustic yet very comfortable, and accessible to all.

Whilst a subtle Basque feel will permeate throughout, its roots will be firmly founded on those of a classic English pub – so while featuring top end Basque dishes fit for a destination dinner, it will also offer simple pub snacks for a light lunch… while the food may be inspired by the Basque country, the ingredients will be local… and while the wines may be sourced from Iberia, the beer will very much be English.

The headlines of the refurb are a huge extension to the bar, a stunning private dining room, seven beautifully appointed guest bedrooms, a totally relandscaped garden… and of course the impressive new outdoor pizza oven so that we can bring back the much loved Sunday Evening Pizzas.

But the crowning glory will be the sensational open kitchen, with a huge, wood fired parilla grill and a brick oven as its centrepiece. Almost everything that we cook will be wood fired, and all in front of the guests – very visual and very theatrical. And all overseen by the amazing Nick Galer who is heading up the kitchen brigade.

The Pot Kiln is a really exciting project, and I very much hope you can bear with us as we navigate this makeover. Please stay tuned here and on our insta page @potkiln for more updates as we near opening.

If you want to make a booking for dining or staying over, have any comments, ideas or just want to chew the fat with us about the Pot Kiln, please feel free to contact us at info@thepotkiln.com, or pop in and say ‘hola’ at The Royal Oak.

Can’t wait to see you all.
